EVEN GREATER Larry W Peebles December 31, 2021 21.46
Earlier this month I wrote an article entitled “Something Greater”. It can be found on the blog page of our website thykingdom.com dated December 10, 2021, article 21.44. I suggest you locate and read the article for added background. The emphasis of the article was that when Jesus said something greater is coming, we should pay attention and begin to look with anticipation. The Scripture reference is Luke 11:31-32, where He said that something was coming greater than the wisdom of Solomon, and the preaching of Jonah. He was speaking of the coming of the Holy Spirit. This occurred on a large scale on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2), when the church was born, and was empowered by the Holy Spirit to spread the Gospel of the Good News of Jesus Christ. The kingdom of God had come to the earth to stay. The earth would never be the same. The kingdom would be sustained by the demonstration of the power of Holy Spirit, not by the wisdom and doctrines of man, nor solely by the preaching of man. No doubt God has given us wisdom, and we need good preaching. But Paul says our faith should be based “on the demonstration of the Spirit’s power”, not preaching and wisdom of man. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
For the entire month of December, this theme has rolled in my mind and spirit—something greater is coming. No doubt 2021 has been quite oppressive with COVID-19 and its related “fear, fatigue, and fatalism” (to quote Pastor Tom Hamon, son of well-known prophet Bill Hamon). Government imposed restrictions and shut-downs have choked the economy, stoked inflation, and tightened the job market, all adding to the frustration and oppression. Fear is rampant. But I feel it is more than COVID. Our country appears to be on the brink of a great moral cliff. We are slipping over the edge. Hatred, rage, division and violence are everywhere. Sexual perversion of all kinds is now “in-your-face”, and out of control. Tension over the issue of abortion is rising, with mounting pressure for the Supreme Court to correct their fifty year-old decision. Without supernatural help, America is done. The “last great hope of the world” (to quote Ronald Reagan) will be lost. If America is lost, the rest of the world is doomed. There are powers and forces at work ready to implement a one-world socialist/communist government that will make today’s oppression seem like a picnic.
My purpose is not to drift into conspiracy theories. My purpose is to say something even greater is coming. My spirit leaps with joy and optimism because I sense that 2022 will not merely be better than 2021. It will be a year of turning, a course correction. It will in fact be a year when we see the Holy Spirit and the glory of the Lord “cover the whole earth, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14) I believe it will be the year we see the onset of the Third Great Awakening come to America. A great revival will awaken this nation, and spread to the whole earth, eventually turning billions to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the only hope we have. Governments and political parties will not save us. Continuing along our current trajectory will not save us. Doing nothing will not save us, but then man never could save himself. We need a Savior, and His Spirit is coming. The power and presence of Holy Spirit will be undeniable in 2022, even to a staunch skeptic.
The church will come out from behind its four walls, and take a stand on the great moral and social issues that face this nation. The government will no longer tell the church what it can and cannot do and say. The roles will begin to reverse, and the government will begin to ask the church what it should do. The new roles will look like the original plan for government that God gave Israel, with the prophet advising the king.
I am hearing this consistent message lately from the pulpits, and from the prophets I follow, such as Dutch Sheets, Tim Sheets, Kent Christmas, Jane Hamon, Gina Ghoulson, and Greg Hood among others. I am not name-dropping. I am pointing the reader toward prophets in our day who hear from the Lord, and whose message is similar to the contents of this article. I encourage the reader to check out one or more of these prophets on their website or You Tube video releases.
At Christmas, we celebrate Jesus as Emmanuel, God with (or among) us. Prophets such as Isaiah foretold of the day God Almighty would come to earth and walk among us as a man. At Pentecost, we celebrate something greater, the church was birthed in the fire and power of Holy Spirit, God within us. From that day forward, and because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, our hearts became His temple. Prophets such as Joel foretold of that day.
We all have an important part in seeing this come to fruition. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says-“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” My spirit concurs with the prophets of this day who are saying that soon we will see another great move of the Holy Spirit. He will once again pour out in even greater measure, like a tsunami, to ignite another awakening in the earth, to turn the people of this nation and indeed the earth back to God.
It is hard to describe the source of my great anticipation, but it is more than wishful thinking. This gives me great hope and expectation for 2022. I gladly turn away from the oppression of 2021, and say Happy New Year. I do not see this as an occasion to celebrate with noise-makers and champagne, but rather to watch, pray, and wait expectantly and reverently for the Lord to move to rescue His people.
The prophets of old saw this coming as well. Isaiah 40:5 says- “The glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.” This prophecy spoke of Jesus, but until “all mankind together” sees it, it remains a prophecy only partially fulfilled. May 2022 reveal even greater things than we could imagine.
