HIS REPRESENTATIVES
Kay Keith Peebles 09/17/21 21.34
The United States Congress was formed by our founding fathers to represent the people of the United States of America as their government. Each state is allowed to vote for its representatives so that the people are able to express their will through a majority vote. This process is called equal representation. Our government was established so that the government would not rule against the will of the people, but the people would elect representatives that would defend their rights and privileges afforded them by the constitution of the United States of America.
Congress is made up of two houses: The Senate and the House of Representatives. It was established to defend the will of the people in order to balance the power of the Presidential and the Judicial branches of our government. All elected and appointed officials must swear to defend and uphold the U. S. Constitution (Law of the land). The only obstacle keeping our government from functioning as it was intended is the innate corruption of those who were duly elected. In that case, they rule for their own enrichment motivated by greed, immorality and pride. Their hunger for power causes them to compromise godly morals. We are currently witnessing that within our government. Our founding fathers knew the dangers of corrupt government and they formed the Constitution in order to safely keep the Laws of God firmly secure in our governmental leadership.
The Kingdom of God also has its own governmental authority based upon laws defined in the Bible. God’s Kingdom is a theocracy. God’s governmental authority is above all other earthly kings, kingdoms, governments and dictatorships. They may have some earthly power but He has the Supreme power and authority to pull them down or raise them up at any time. The Lord is the Supreme Ruler and Judge of all the earth.
“For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our King; He will save us.” Isaiah 33:22
Jesus appointed (chose) His representatives to establish His government on earth. His original “representatives” were the disciples He raised up to go into all the world and make more disciples of Jesus Christ. When Jesus commissioned His disciples, He gave them explicit instructions.
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed [in Me] and has been baptized will be saved [from the penalty of God’s wrath and judgment]; but he who has not believed will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed; in My name they will cast out demons, They will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.’” Mark 16:15-18. If you are a believer, you ARE a disciple of Jesus!
The word ‘preach’ does not necessarily mean being the pastor of a church. It simply means ‘give a witness’ to what you have seen, experienced and know about Jesus. It means to testify to others the truth you have experienced in God. Those who “represent” the Lord come from all walks of life. His disciples (believers) are not limited to the clergy, they are teachers, businessmen and women, athletes, truck drivers, bankers, and also governmental representatives. The Lord calls every believer to ‘preach’ [testify] to others what God has done for them.
Not only has Jesus called us to testify, He has also given us authority over the demonic realm, including healing the sick, casting out demonic oppression/possession, and raising the dead! You may say ‘Not me’, but He has! It is your God-given right as a believer, and your mandate from Jesus.
“And Jesus summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness and infirmity.” Matthew 10:1
“And as you go, preach (testify), saying The Kingdom of heaven is at hand! Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:7-8.
Everywhere Jesus went He represented God the Father by manifesting the power of the Kingdom of God with Him. Remember, to come from heaven to earth to reveal the Father to us, Jesus laid down all His dominion, power and rule to take on human form. By doing so, He was just like any other man living on earth. His power came through His obedience to the Father which we also have. He spent His childhood and youth seeking His heavenly Father and surrendering His will to Him. As He became a man and it was time to begin His ministry, He surrendered to baptism confirming death to self. He was then raised in up in complete obedience to God the Father. The Holy Spirit fell upon Him and within Him and He was empowered by God to do the works of the Kingdom.
The Bible says Jesus went about “doing good”; He healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead, opened blind eyes and deaf ears. He also preached (testified/witnessed) the gospel of the Kingdom. When we tell others what God has done for us, we are being a witness of God’s goodness. By doing so, we are representing God’s character, power and His Kingdom.
A witness testifies in a court of law. We are to give testimony of the things we have witnessed God do in our lives and the lives of others we know. Our witness/testimony has power. When we testify, the anointing/power that happened when we got our break-though is on our testimony making it empowered to repeat the same result. For instance, if we testify of a healing in our body, the power to heal is present through our testimony. If we testify of a deliverance from fear, the power to deliver one from fear is present to do it again for the one listening and believing! Our witness or testimony is an invitation for the Kingdom of God to invade the life of the one we are speaking to.
The Kingdom of God works on this principle: If He did it once, He will do it again! The disciples of Christ witnessed what He did among them during His three years of ministry. He taught them how the Kingdom of God functions and empowered them to carry on what He began. The same is true of every believer today! The Gospels are the written witness [testimony] to us of what Jesus did when He was here on earth. When we BELIEVE, the same results are possible in our lives.
“And Jesus said to him, [You say to Me], ‘If You can?’ All things are possible for the one who believes and trusts [in Me]!” Mark 9:23 AMP
When we allow the enemy to keep us in doubt and unbelief, we will never see the Kingdom of God at work in our lives. To believe, we must defy what we are experiencing in the natural by declaring and believing what the Word of God says about our situation.
Isaiah 61, the prophecy about Jesus’ coming says it all. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the LORD has anointed and commissioned me to bring good news to the humble and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted, to proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives and freedom to prisoners, to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance and retribution of our God, to comfort all who mourn, to grant to those who mourn in Zion the following: to give them a turban (beauty) instead of dust (ashes), the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit, so they will be called the trees of righteousness [strong and magnificent, distinguished for integrity, justice and right standing with God], the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3. Emphasis, mine.
Do we really believe this? If so, why aren’t we walking in it??? If we believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, why are we depressed, fearful, broken and hurting? Why are we bound to things that keep us broken and hurting? Why are we looking for comfort through drugs, alcohol, entertainment, etc? None of those things will heal us, only Jesus can.
As long as we desire for someone to “spoon feed” us the Gospel, we will never take the initiative to study for ourselves what the Bible teaches. Jesus will always be someone else’s Lord and not ours! If we continue in doubt and unbelief, we will never see the victory in our own lives; and doubtless we will be unable to help others break through. If we prefer to whine and cry about our own circumstances to others instead of taking the Word of God, believing, praying and declaring it over our lives, we will never experience deliverance, healing and breakthrough!
There is an old adage: “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”! Some people like being the victim. It keeps them from having to do anything for themselves or for others. Self-pity destroys the soul. God is calling us to surrender our lives to Him in such a way we believe every word He wrote, every testimony in the Bible, and hold fast to every promise so that we can experience its fulfillment in our lives. Once our freedom begins to manifest, we are then empowered to help others gain their freedom also!
The only way to be His representatives (witnesses) is to ‘study to show ourselves approved’, believe ‘every word that comes out of the mouth of God’, and apply it to our lives and the lives of those around us.
“Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.
“But Jesus replied, ‘It is written and forever remains written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God,’” Matthew 4:4. See also Deuteronomy 8:3.
When we accomplish that, we will demonstrate these signs: “In My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” Mark 16:17-20.
God is looking for His representatives in the earth today. He is looking for those who will stand up and testify, be a reliable witness of His existence, His Word, His power and His will. He is looking for those who will take the Gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrate its truths outside the confines of the Church. He is looking for those who are bold and fearless because they have allowed the Presence of God to transform their lives, empowering them to become His witnesses wherever they go. Where His representatives go, the Kingdom of God also goes, so that the works of Jesus will continue to draw all mankind to Him.
