HE WROTE YOUR BOOK!

Thousands of new books are published every year. Untold millions have been written over the centuries. I have a relative who has just published a book and it is now for sale on several of the public venues. Writing a book is a big deal!
It is the Lord God Who began the idea of writing books. Long before our Bible was published, the Lord had been writing books in heaven. “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:11-15.
“At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time, and at that time your people shall be delivered, every-one who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.” Daniel 12:1-2.
The Lord has recorded everything we have done, good or bad in His book and the books will be examined on the Day of Judgment. For those who love the Lord, live a life of repentance and forgiveness trusting only in His Blood for our redemption, it is not a day to fear. “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, both now and forever, Amen.” Jude 24-25.
The Apostle Paul made it very clear in scripture that we cannot “earn” our way to heaven through our works. “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The Just shall live by faith.’” Romans 1:17, Habakkuk 2:4. Instead, our works testify to what we claim to believe. In other words, “Our actions speak louder than our words.” God has written in His books in heaven everything we have said and done. Even our words will affirm our true faith in Him or prove the lack thereof. See Matthew 12:36. Both word and deed comprises our “works”.
James, the half-brother of Jesus explained: “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?” James 2:14-22
So far, I have established that the Lord has written many books that are in heaven. I have also confirmed the just live by faith in Jesus and His atonement for our sins. It is also true that our faith can be verified by our works (words and deeds) which He records in His books.
“Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name. ‘They shall be MINE,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘On the day that I make them My jewels and I will spare them as a man spared his own son who serves him.’ Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.” Malachi 3:16-18.
God uses the “books” (scrolls, letters, documents) as a testament on our behalf or against us depending on how we lived our life. They are a “witness” in the courts of the Lord which will affirm His righteous judgment of us at the end of the age. “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” Revelation 21:27. Emphasis mine.
According to Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary, the Book of Life is a book written in heaven “before the foundation of the world”. It records the names of everyone born who received Jesus’ sacrifice for their sins and lived a righteous life, were faithful while enduring tribulation (trials, hardships) and participated in the works of Jesus. It is the Lord Jesus, Himself, who will determine whose name remains in the Book of Life and those who are blotted out of the book. (See pages 230-231).
Many do not know that the Lord Himself wrote a book about each person who has ever lived. Psalm 139 confirms this fact. “O LORD, You have searched me and known (intimately) me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.” Psalm 139:1-6. Emphasis mine.
It is entirely wrong for us to believe that the Lord is looking for our flaws in order to record them because He delights in judging us. To the contrary, He is so intimately concerned about every living soul that is born that they know Him, His way of Salvation and His great love for each and every one of us. No matter what we have done, He desires to heal and restore us, deliver us from captivity and ensure that we stay on the right path because He loves us so deeply. He tries desperately to hedge us into a safe place where we can grow in our knowledge of Him and fulfill His plan for us.
Because as a child I felt rejected and abandoned, I could not grasp the LOVE God has for me. I felt He was far away, was always looking to catch me in sin and “spank” me. I felt He was unreachable and I was unlovable. Psalm 139 totally contradicts those thoughts. “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make by bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall fall on me.’ Even the night shall be light about me; indeed, the darkness, shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You.” Psalm 139:7-12.
No matter what happens to us, or what wrong choices we may make, He is there. He is reachable, holding out His hand of redemption in the lowest of situations, in the darkest, most detestable places, not judging but redeeming.
When He formed us, He was speaking to our spirit that He loves us and has a great plan for our lives. He whispers tenderly in our ears as soon as they can hear that He alone is God and He will be with us all the days of our lives. He writes on our DNA His plan as He fashions us with the proper mind, talents, abilities and knowledge to fulfill His plan for us. He recites to us the plans He has for us which He has written in our book. He knows the enemy will try to circumvent His plans so He pre-programs us with the capability to “find” Him in the future. Hear what the scripture says.
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed, and in Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.” Psalm 139:13-18. The LORD God pre-determined all the days we are to live!
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity…” Jeremiah 29:11-14.
The problem is, the enemy does not want us to become born again children of God. He does not want us to live out all our days fulfilling everything the Lord created us to do! See verses 19-22. Because Adam and Eve sinned against the Lord, we have an enemy we must overcome in order to fulfill everything the Lord has given us to do. But the Lord is there to help us overcome. His plan has always been for us to be “more than conquerors”. See Romans 8:31-39.
Reconciliation with the Lord is our first and foremost need. The Bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. We must own and acknowledge our sins and turn to the Lord in complete abandonment, refusing to go back to our sinful lifestyle. Then we must seek the Lord continually, reading/studying His Word which teaches us Who He is and how we are to live. We need to find a body of believers who can help us walk in accountability to His Word and His ways. We must be filled with His Holy Spirit which is His gift to all who believe. When we do these things faithfully, we will be able to overcome everything that comes against us. We will become victors over temptation, fear and every assignment of the enemy to circumvent our faith. We will walk in triumph, stand before the judgment seat of God not afraid, cowering or ashamed, but filled with the joy of hearing “Well done, thou faithful servant…”.
I declare and decree: you are loved with an everlasting LOVE! You are filled with an everlasting HOPE! You are transformed by the everlasting WORD! You are propelled by an everlasting FAITH! You are empowered by an everlasting SPIRIT! And you will triumph by an everlasting TRUTH! All emanate from our everlasting SAVIOR-JESUS, and on the Day of Judgment your book will testify on your behalf!
